MESSAGE TO TEAM CAPTAINS:

Dear NGSL Captain:

Welcome to the Fall 2008 Softball Season. As the season begins, please keep the following in mind:

1. Attached are the NGSL Rules. Please read them carefully and educate your teammates about them.

2. The calendar located at www.ngsl.com is the most accurate and up-to-date record of the game schedule. It will be updated throughout the day as cancellations occur and make-up games are scheduled. Please check it regularly for your scheduling needs.

3. If you need to cancel a game, email (1) your opposing captain, (2) the umpire scheduled for your game slot, and (3)uvalawsoftball@gmail.com.

4. You may schedule make-up games, or practices, for any empty slot on the calendar on a first-come, first-served basis by emailing uvalawsoftball@gmail.com. Captains may not make additions to the online league calendar themselves.

5. At the completion of every game, the captain of the winning team must email uvalawsoftball@gmail.com with the date, teams and final score. Unreported wins cannot figure into NGSL playoff determinations. In the event of a tie, the captains should coordinate who will report the tie.

6. NGSL will schedule an umpire for all regularly scheduled games. The Umpire Schedule will be posted on the NGSL website. Umpires will not be scheduled by NGSL for make-up games. Team captains should coordinate the scheduling of an umpire for make-up games. A good place to start is to contact the umpire who normally has the time slot in which you want to reschedule your game.

7. In the event of inclement weather, an NGSL officer will send an email to the captains' email list, and the announcement will be posted at www.ngsl.com.

8. Please be respectful of your umpires. They are volunteering their time to make sure the league is a success. An umpire's word is final, and they reserve the right to eject any member of your team from the game for lack of respect. Be nice.

Most importantly, have fun. While the NGSL championship is rightfully a highly coveted title, it is law school softball so the most important thing is for everyone to enjoy themselves. Good luck; let's have a great season!
