Dear NGSL Captain:
Welcome to the Fall 2006 Softball Season. As the season begins, please keep the following in mind:
1. Attached are the NGSL Rules. Please read them carefully and educate your teammates about them.
2. If you cancel a game, post the cancellation on the NGSL board. Notices on the board take precedence over all forms of notice. By canceling, you will give others the opportunity to use the field for make-up games. If you plan to fill one of the spots opened by a cancellation, post your team name on the board next to the cancellation notice.
3. At the completion of every game, the captain of the winning team must email uvasoftball@yahoo.com with the date, teams and final score. Unreported wins cannot figure into NGSL playoff determinations. In the event of a tie, the captains should coordinate who will report the tie.
4. NGSL will schedule an umpire for all regularly scheduled games. The Umpire Schedule will be posted on the NGSL board. Umpires will not be scheduled by the NGSL for make-up games. Team captains should coordinate the scheduling of an umpire for make-up games. A good place to start is to contact the umpire who normally has the time slot you want to reschedule your game for.
5. Rain-out announcements will be posted on the NGSL board. All other pertinent information will be posted on the NGSL board and online. Please check it periodically.
Most importantly, be a good sport. We're out here to have fun. It is possible to be competitive and have fun at the same time. After all, it is law school softball. Enjoy the NGSL!
